Skin cancer is not a single disease. The most common forms are basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma, together called nonmelanoma skin cancers. They begin in basal or squamous cells of the epidermis, the skin’s outer layer. Melanoma starts in melanocytes, the cells that make pigment, and is less common but more likely to grow into nearby tissue or spread through lymph nodes or blood. These cancers often appear on sun-exposed skin such as the face, neck, ears, and hands, yet they can arise anywhere. Nonmelanoma types usually stay local and grow slowly. Melanoma can invade deeper layers and travel farther if untreated. Ultraviolet radiation from sunlight and tanning beds is the main established risk factor. Fair skin that burns easily, light eyes or hair, many moles, childhood sunburns, personal or family history, and a weakened immune system also raise risk. Anyone of any skin color can develop skin cancer. These factors increase chance; they do not prove a single cause in every person. Possible signs include a new growth, a sore that will not heal, a scaly or shiny patch, or a mole that changes size, shape, or color. Such changes are not diagnostic; many skin spots are harmless. Any persistent or evolving lesion should be checked by a clinician. Diagnosis typically starts with a skin exam followed by biopsy. Staging, especially important for melanoma, looks at depth, size, and possible spread. Treatment depends on exact subtype, stage, location, biomarkers when relevant, overall health, and personal preferences. Surgery is the most common approach. Radiation, topical medicines, or, for advanced melanoma, immunotherapy and targeted therapy may be used. Supportive care helps with comfort and daily living. Standard options differ from investigational trials, and approvals vary by country. This is general education only, not a diagnosis or personal plan. Please discuss any concerns with a dermatology or oncology team.

Semi-realistic anime graphic novel hybrid vertical 9:16 educational illustration, realistic adult proportions, clean bold linework, subtle cel shading, flat color, illustrated textures, warm cinematic lighting, strong directional shadows, dramatic serious tone. Full-frame anatomically accurate unlabeled cutaway of human facial skin in correct orientation: thin epidermis with stratified squamous layers, basal layer sitting on the basement membrane, dermis with collagen bundles below, subcutaneous fat deepest. Diagrammatic basal cells rest intact along the basal layer; squamous cells occupy upper epidermis; no tumors, no damage, no debris. Warm raking light from the left. Anticipatory stillness before any highlight. No people, no labels, no gore, no fake scans. Rendering treatment: semi-realistic anime / graphic novel hybrid style, realistic adult proportions, mature natural faces, clean bold linework, subtle cel shading and flat color, illustrated textures rather than photography, warm cinematic lighting, strong directional shadows, grounded detailed environment, dramatic serious tone, cinematic film-still composition. Apply this treatment only to the existing subject; do not introduce people into an anatomical illustration. Preserve medically accurate anatomy and restrained educational presentation. DIRECT MEDICAL IMAGERY ONLY: Show the actual educational subject full-frame: anatomically accurate skin, organ/tissue cutaways, cells, lesions, diagnostic details or treatment mechanisms supported by the narration. Never show a doctor, clinician, presenter or host explaining, pointing, holding a model or standing beside a board. No consultation scenes, lecture rooms, wall-mounted diagrams, teaching boards, presentation screens or pamphlet handoffs. A medical diagram is the scene itself, not an object displayed in a room. Patient body regions or procedural details may appear only when needed to explain the narrated concept; do not invent a recurring presenter. Use an empty character roster and empty character_names for anatomy-only scenes. Keep narration exclusively as off-screen voice-over. These rules also apply to the thumbnail and override generic character-first or emotional-character-hook directions. This is the stable opening frame immediately before the paired video action begins: A faint diagrammatic highlight slowly brightens along the basal cell layer of the intact epidermis.. Show anticipation and intact starting conditions only. The action, impact, movement, damage, debris, spill, result, and aftermath have not happened yet.
Negative: chibi, big anime eyes, cartoon exaggeration, glossy 3D, CGI render, painterly style, photorealistic photography, childish proportions, plastic skin, weak linework, low detail, extra fingers, malformed hands, duplicate people, identity drift, anachronisms, modern objects, invented insignia, invented logos, readable text, watermark, signature, accidental collage, split screen, picture-in-picture, inset image, unexplained rectangular panel, floating frame, fake window, impossible mirror, impossible reflection, duplicated architecture, broken perspective, discontinuous floor, discontinuous walls, abrupt texture boundary, blank region, black void, edge artifact, unnatural occlusion, Avoid gore, ulcers, labels, people, fake scans, distorted layer thickness, or any tumor already forming.Video prompt
